Kate Brock (they/them) is a fourth year PhD student in Anthropology at William & Mary where they study historical archaeology under the mentorship of Dr. Audrey Horning. Brock focuses on the intersections of labor, gender, and folklore through the material and immaterial past. Previous projects of theirs explored the life of Bridget Cleary, the practices of natural dyers in the Northern California Fibershed, and the significance of the Sheela na Gig figure in contemporary Irish and international belief systems. They are interested in compiling the stories of the communities with and for whom they work, especially those that relate to the production of textiles from the raw material to the finished fabric. They are a writer, folklorist, and archaeologist, in no particular order, and currently live in Virginia with their dog, Aoife, and a small personal library.
